How can the technology sector attract and retain more female talent?

Marie: My manager is a woman, but the drivers and technicians I work with on a daily basis are mostly men. During networking and fleet events, men are also predominantly present. Although I see a positive evolution, as a woman it can be difficult to find your place in a male-dominated work atmosphere, where prejudices about competencies still exist. As a woman, it’s very important to arrive in a company where you feel supported, listened to, valued and respected. This can reduce potential feelings of isolation and foster open communication among all team members. At VINCI Energies, women are fully supported. The company actively encourages taking courses and constantly offers new training opportunities. VINCI Energies also creates an inclusive environment where everyone is given equal opportunities for professional development. As a result, the environment is one of respect and connectedness. It is also important to emphasize that women within the company can follow any passion in any role. At VINCI Energies, we are truly judged based on skills and performance, not gender.

How did your mother’s support influence your career in a male environment and how did this inspire your role as a mom?

Marie: My mother is my role model. She has achieved a lot in her life herself and has always supported me. We both found our way in a traditionally male environment where skepticism and stereotypes sometimes still exist, but were guided by motivation and perseverance. Just as my mother has always supported me, I will back my children in their choices because I believe following your passion is what matters most. For example, for me, my daughter may be an electrician later on or my son may be a childcare worker. With this campaign, I also want to show others that women can succeed just as well in traditionally male surroundings.

Are there any accomplishments you are proud of since joining VINCI Energies?

Marie: I have only been working at VINCI Energies for a year and a half but I am already proud of the work I have done so far. One specific example is that I am an avid supporter of 100% electric cars and, together with the other Fleet Managers, I have been able to successfully implement these vehicles at VINCI Facilities. We have been able to demonstrate that this is both environmentally friendly and financially beneficial. For me, this is an acknowledgement that my voice is heard and my opinion matters. It is also inspiring to work for a company that shares the same values and is open to change. Moreover, I appreciate the trust that VINCI Energies and my manager have in me by letting me make my own decisions and develop my own initiatives. In addition, my manager grants me a lot of responsibility and flexibility to manage issues according to my own judgment.
