Cegelec, in partnership with the sister companies of VINCI Energies, has completed the construction of a new turnkey project in the pharmaceutical industry in Wavre.
Our client is one of the world leaders in the pharmaceutical industry: it develops, produces and distributes vaccines worldwide. Of its 17 global production sites, the two main ones are situated in Rixensart and Wavre, where the headquarters is also located.
In recent years, the need for hepatitis A vaccines has grown considerably worldwide. Our client therefore decided to increase its production of injectable suspensions by moving the production of this vaccine to Wavre, where the designated production unit had to undergo major transformation within a very short time frame.
The ability to meet a tight schedule was therefore an essential criterion. For the first time, a single partner was assigned all of the technical aspects, the construction and the demolition via a turnkey contractor’s package.
Given that the quality of each vaccine sample is checked a hundred times on average to ensure that it meets the global standards, an experienced and capable partner was needed in order to provide a high level of quality.
Thanks to our well-established presence and the successful implementations of previous projects, we were swiftly consulted regarding this project. We were, incidentally, involved in the initial construction phase for the building in 2004.
Given that many of the skills required were of technical nature, Cegelec used the services of its sister companies within VINCI Energies (Cegelec Fire Solutions & Actemium). For the other skills, a network of external partners was created.
