The 37-year-old Sarah works as a Senior Project Coordinator at IZEN for large solar park projects in the Netherlands and Germany. Her versatile range of tasks includes: budget management, price negotiations with suppliers, supporting subcontractors and providing solutions to on-site problems.
Sarah: Very diverse, in fact. My decision to join VINCI Energies was mainly motivated by the variety of tasks the position offers. Before I started as a Senior Project Coordinator, I took a Human Resources course and did a related internship, but this did not meet my expectations. The monotonous nature and lack of diversity did not appeal to me. In contrast, the position that VINCI Energies offered was enormously challenging and versatile. Every day is different, as unexpected events always happen on a construction site, on which you have to be able to react immediately. In addition, my work schedule, which involves me working four days out of five, allows me to spend extra time with my children. This is a reflection of the importance VINCI Energies places on a healthy work-life balance.
Sarah: In the past year there have been many changes within the company. I was able to contribute to these changes myself. It was important for me to see progress and so I helped achieve this myself, something that was very much appreciated. Thanks to this effort, important contracts have been signed. This has not only helped the work planners to operate more efficiently, but also ensured smoother project progress.
Sarah: The tech sector benefits tremendously from the presence of women. It is a misconception to think that it is purely a man’s world. Women bring essential perspectives and insights that, combined with those of men, lead to innovative solutions. It is precisely this diversity that strengthens and enriches the technical sector. Hence my request to all women: dare to jump into the technical world. If you want something, you have to give it your all because even if you experience occasional setbacks, it pays off in the end.
