When did you know for sure that you wanted to work within the technical field?

I wanted to pursue a technical profession from a very young age. My family has a farm and that is how I developed my interest in tractors and machines. As a result, I have always opted for technical studies. It was striking that I was often the only woman during my studies, which sometimes made me feel like an outsider. But I never let that bother me. I think it is important that you get the chance to do a job that you enjoy, regardless of gender stereotypes, because if you enjoy doing it, you do it better. You should therefore base your job choice on your own interests and avoid just doing the same thing the majority is doing. If, as a young person, you are not yet sure what profession you want to pursue, it can always help to attend a particular class or job fair to gain some insights into what a particular field or profession entails.

How did you discover VINCI Energies?

I discovered VINCI Energies through my cousin who was already employed there at the time. When he gave me additional information about the company and his job, my interest was immediately piqued and I decided to do an internship at AVT. Now I have been working here for about six years. What I find so fascinating about my job is that there is a lot of room for variety. For example, I regularly get the chance to work abroad. In addition, at VINCI Energies you also get a lot of freedom to develop your knowledge at your own pace and to discover your own interests. This has already enabled me to evolve enormously within the company. I started out as an electrician and then grew into the software department. Via various training courses, I have also learned a lot about programming robots and software packages.

What is the working atmosphere like within VINCI Energies?

What makes VINCI Energies a great working environment for me is the open working atmosphere and the good cooperation with colleagues. I also notice that I am not treated differently from my male colleagues: I am given the same opportunities and possibilities, and that is how it should be. I am in a team that is made up exclusively of men, but everyone gets on well with each other and there is mutual respect. We are also all about the same age and from the same school or region, so that creates a good bond. It is fun that we all engage in certain activities outside of work too. For example, I often go for a run with my colleagues in the evening.
